COUNTDOWN TO THE 2018 ANNUAL MEETING, JANUARY 16-18, 2018 AT THE ATLANTIS CASINO RESORT SPA IN RENO
THE 2018 ANNUAL MEETING THEME: “IT’S A NEW DAY – LET’S GET READY!”
We have a great line-up of speakers and panelists to address our theme “It’s a New Day….Let’s Get Ready.” As developed by the Annual Meeting Committee and the ACL Board of Directors, the goal is to inspire the young folks courageous enough to try logging in California, and to re-inspire older loggers that have watched their California industry languish over the past 25 years. With the Trump administration pushing for American made products, coupled with the increasing demand for wood as we rebuild after hurricanes and fires, it is indeed a New Day ahead for American forestry and logging. It will take agencies, mills, and loggers all rowing the boat together if we are going to seize this new day.
SPEAKERS AND PANELS WILL INCLUDE:
WEDNESDAY KEYNOTE ADDRESS: “LOGGERS FOR THE FUTURE”
Wendy Farrand spoke at the 2017 Annual Meeting, and we are bringing Wendy back as the Wednesday Keynote Speaker with a new topic that will tie directly into the theme and goals of the 2018 Annual Meeting: “Loggers for the Future” – the need to locate and reach out to the younger generation as potential workers in this crucial segment of the timber industry: logging and log hauling. Also: At the Wednesday morning Membership Meeting and “Board Reports,” among the guest speakers will be Sam Neill, a young aspiring logger, currently working part time for an ACL member company, who will give us a direct perspective on what it takes to interest younger people in logging.
