In recent days and weeks, the Chapter Chairs of four ACL regional chapters have each checked in with President Mike Albrecht and the ACL office to let us know that – despite some initial attempts to try – they regretfully must cancel their 2020 Christmas Parties and December 2020 Chapter meetings.
The reason is simple and frustrating: Ever-changing COVID-19 requirements in the various counties of California. These chapter meetings were to have taken place at restaurants, indoors, in winter temperatures, but are no longer feasible. Moreover, our Chapter Chairs all expressed concerns that the health of our members and other guests must remain paramount at this time.
These are the chapters that have had to cancel their 2020 Christmas Parties:
Gold Country Chapter(Nevada County, Chair Dennis Elliott)
North Coast Chapter (Humboldt County, Chair Tim Renner)
Plumas-Sierra Chapter (Plumas and Sierra Counties, Chair Doug Stoy)
Redding Chapter (Shasta County, Chair Jaime Wagenfuhr)
As of this writing, one remaining Chapter – El Dorado-Mother Lode (which has membership across several California counties) is still trying to determine if there is a safe and appropriate location at which a Christmas party can be held in December. Chapter Chair Gary Gladen will communicate directly with his Chapter members and we will report from the ACL office on the final decision, as well.
All of the chapter chairs expressed their apologies about this turn of events, but all of the chapter chairs are very confident that a year from now in December of 2021…all of the Christmas parties will return.
And even without ACL Christmas parties this year, there is ample reason to wish, to one and all:
A MERRY CHRISTMAS IN 2020 !
