Harvesting small timber on steep slopes has always been a challenge.  Issues of safety, stand damage and high costs have prevented managing many of our steeper slopes.  Tethering feller bunchers and skidding machines to dedicated winching machines or to anchors for equipment with on-board winches is anew technique for dealing with steep slopes.  The panel will include presentations on how to use this new equipment and what some of the advantages and pit falls could be for your operation.  Panelists are Jeff Wimer of Oregon State University, Bruce Skurdahl of Summit Attachment and Machinery, Frank Chandler of C&C Logging and Matt Mattioda of Miller Timber Services.
