Location: Anderson VFW Hall
This is the standard Licensed Timber Operators Training class provided by Cal Fire. There are additional requirements for most LTO license categories not provided by this class. The class consists of two (2) eight-hour days. Attendance of both class sessions is mandatory. Class materials provided will be 3-hole punched. Please bring a binder in addition to writing utensils, highlighters, and post-it notes.

8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – “Incident Safety Awareness for Hired Vendors”
Location: Shasta District Fairgrounds, Fusaro Hall
This safety training class will allow attendees to receive an “Interagency Emergency Equipment Operator Card” issued by Cal Fire and US Forest Service through the State Fire Marshall’s Office. When properly equipped, persons with the “Vendor Card” can work on fires under Cal Fire or U.S. Forest Service command.
Instructor’s: Tom Fields, Fire Science Instructor with Shasta-Trinity Regional Occupation Program and Assistant Chief, Palo Cedro Fire Department. Gary Lyons, retired Battalion Chief, Cal Fire. Class size limited to 40 students.

Each year SCLC enlists the assistance of volunteers which include Professional Forester’s, Logger’s, Resource Professional’s, Agency Staff, Scientists, Business Owner’s and Landowner’s. They host local and regional students and introduce them to Forest Management and the Forest Products Industry.

The competition is fierce as the Sierra–Cascade Logging Conference Past Presidents compete for the bull’s eye. Winner takes home the Mike Balcom Award!

Join the action as college teams from across California, Nevada, Arizona and Oregon compete in traditional logging sports events including; chopping, whip-sawing, ax throwing, and choker-setting among others. Stihl chain saws and safety gear provided by AL’s Saw Shop
1:00 pm – 3:30 pm “Fire and the Future of California Timberlands”
Panel Discussion with Q&A addressing, “Fire and the Future of California Timberlands”, with moderator Dee Sanders and panelists Dan Tomascheski, Mike Albrecht, George Morris III and Senator Brian Dahle.

Moderator: Matt Dias – Cal Forests
This panel focuses on informing participants on the ongoing and unprecedented investment that the state of California has made within last year’s state budget, as well as in the proposed budget for 2022/23. Panelists will be focused upon specific budgetary allocations in the areas of bio-energy and workforce development.

This panel will discuss taking the next step in conquering the monumental task of harvesting all of the burnt timber in front of us. We will discuss what could be best practices for logging, trucking and processing the timber at sawmills and biomass plants.

Test your log loading skills in the SCLC Log Loader Skills Competition. Along with bragging rights, awards will be given for 1st through 5th place.
To participate in this event, Loader Operators must be a SCLC “Member” and are required to be sponsored by a company or be an owner/operator.

Location: Shasta District Fairgrounds, Fairgrounds Infield
Can you dig it? Balance it? That is the question that contestants from far and wide will try to answer. Join us as we watch experienced excavator operators fight time and gravity to take home the prize money. Equipment available to competitors will include CAT, Case, John Deere, Komatsu, and Link Belt excavators. There is a $10 entry fee to participate.
