PLEASE NOTE: As our Associated California Loggers members and others seek help with the various federal and state programs providing financial relief from the economic side of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Crisis, we want to direct your attention to the federal and state office holders who, we are told, can help their constituents “cut through the red tape” and get information about these programs. These members of Congress and the California State Legislature have staff working directly on the COVID-19 crisis, and phone numbers that can get through to federal agencies (like The Department of the Treasury) and to California state agencies (like the Employment Development Department) for you.
If you have applications pending for federal CARES ACT loans, or federal Paycheck Protection Program monies, or unemployment, these offices can help you. (It is ACL’s hope during this time that you have work as “essential critical workers” rather than unemployment, however.)
While we are told that the federal money has “run out” for new applications related to the CARES ACT, more funding should be coming soon, and certain applications that have already been filed will still be funded.
Meanwhile, the state Department of Employment and Development (EDD) will have a new application process for the “PUA” (“Pandemic Unemployment Assistance”) program starting April 28. A new call center will be created to handle these applications; your state representatives should have more information. ACL will have this information soon.
The federal and state officials below have been selected because they represent “timber country.” They have been named via a mix of the “identifiable” cities and counties that they represent so that you can pick the ones closest to your home. Call that representative and give the staff your zip code and you can confirm if he or she is yours. United States Senators Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris represent all of you.
