Sierra Nevada Conservancy to Host
March Board Meeting in Downtown Sacramento
(AUBURN, Calif.) — The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC), a California state agency focused on supporting and improving the environmental, economic, and social well-being of the Sierra-Cascade region, will host its quarterly Board meeting Thursday, March 2 in downtown Sacramento.
The meeting will start at 9 a.m. in the California Natural Resources Agency’s Auditorium located at 715 P Street. Over the course of the day, the Board will consider awarding more than $27 million in new grants to wildfire and forest resilience, recreation, and land conservation projects.
Fifteen of the 18 potential grants for just over $24 million will be considered for award through the SNC’s Wildfire Recovery and Forest Resilence Grant Program, which was established after the state made historic investments in 2021 and 2022 to address wildfire and forest-resilience priorities. The projects being considered for funding build resilience across the Sierra-Cascade region and reduce wildfire risk to landscapes and communities.
The Board may also award an additional $2.2 million to two projects in its Strategic Land Conservation Grant Program and more than $460,000 to one project in the Vibrant Recreation and Tourism Grant Program.
If all grants are awarded, projects will be implemented in the following counties: Butte, Calaveras, El Dorado, Fresno, Inyo, Lassen, Madera, Modoc, Mono, Nevada, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama, and Tulare.
