ARE YOU INTERESTED IN ATTENDING A SPECIAL ASSOCIATED CALIFORNIA LOGGERS CLASS ON SATURDAY MAY 13 ? SUBJECT: “HOW TO SUCCEED IN THE WORLD OF US FOREST SERVICE CONTRACTING — “PURCHASING, STEWARDSHIP, IDIQ AND MORE”
When Associated California Loggers sent its delegation to Washington DC several weeks ago, we took a meeting with members of a Washington DC law firm who offered to send a lawyer to Northern California to teach a one-day course on the “world of US Forest Service contracting” — with additional information on other types of federal land contracts. The idea is to give loggers “a leg up” in understanding how to obtain these contracts, how to work them, and how to avoid the pitfalls of “a contract gone wrong” to avoid cost or liability to the logger.
ACL President Hardie Tatum accepted the offer and a date was decided upon : Saturday May 13.
After further discussions in recent weeks, the class subject matter and the date have been “nailed down.”
HOWEVER: President Tatum does not wish to proceed with this class unless we can demonstrate an interest on behalf of our members to attend the class. We are looking at a class size of 20 to 30 attendees. The class will be free of charge.
PRESIDENT HARDIE TATUM RESPECTFULLY ASKS ALL ACL MEMBERS THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS:
ONE: Are you interested in attending this class on Saturday May 13? The class will be 7 to 8 hours long, depending on the lunch break.
TWO: We are looking at one of two locations for the class:
Sacramento
Williams
At which location would you like the class to be held?
THREE: If you cannot attend this class on Saturday May 13, would you be interested in attending a similar class on a different day and date in the future?
REQUESTED DEADLINE TO RESPOND TO ACL: Midnight, Friday April 28
If you are interested in attending this class, please contact EITHER
ACL Executive Director Eric Carleson
OR
ACL President Hardie Tatum
We will then create an attendance list and choose the location(Sacramento or Williams) based on your input. NOTE: Several ACL members to whom we have talked about this class informally, have already said that they would like to come. We have about 8 “takers” at this time.
THANK YOU for giving consideration to this offer by ACL to use our Washington DC contacts to teach you how to do well in your dealings with the US Forest Service and other parts of the federal government.
