Commemorative issues of the ACL newsletter will be published soon about the 2025 Annual Meeting of Associated California Loggers.
But we wanted to celebrate one presentation at the Annual Meeting here and now:
During the Annual Meeting Banquet on Tuesday night January 21, 2023-2024 President Russ Hawkins asked the selected “2025 Lady Logger of the Year” to take the stage and receive her plaque and audience applause.
This was a most deserving recipient, as you shall read below: Liz Headrick of Headrick Logging in Anderson, near Redding.
Here is what President Hawkins read to the audience:
Born to a Baker and an Immigrant mother in Ajo, Arizona, Liz Headrick was rushed to the nearest children’s hospital due to medical complications which had her in and out of the hospital throughout childhood. She never let this stop her from living life to the fullest and helping in the family-owned bakery in Buckeye, Arizona.
From here, Liz set out and landed in the agricultural town of Gridley, California, where she soon found herself working in the cannery paying her way through college, all while raising two young children. She worked as a Cardiovascular Technician till the day she met her late husband — Jim Headrick (eventually a President of Associated California Loggers himself) — where she would soon find herself being immersed within the great industry of logging.
Over the course of the next 30 years, Liz would wear numerous hats with the greatest ones being a mother, wife and business owner. She has accomplished great things in her life. Her greatest is and will always be her family with her 6 children, 23 grandchildren & 4 great grandchildren.
She is a woman of many talents, playing the guitar, baking, photography, writing poetry, and drawing. At home, she can be found with her Bible, or gathering with family, playing games and laughing over shared meals. She loves people but also enjoys the quiet moments of reflection, prayer, dreaming, and yes grieving.
The last several years have been some of the hardest of her life. She knows all too well the depths of heartbreak, and what it feels like to wrestle through healing. Losing her late husband so quickly to cancer was an unexpected challenge she had to meet with courage only God can give.
Liz took on Headrick Logging willingly, so her husband’s legacy would live on and her employees, whom are like family, could continue to prosper. Through her own recent cancer journey, she has seen God move in astounding ways.
Liz Headrik is an overcomer, praising God in the storms and always looking for the positive. If you know her, you know she loves her family, her friends and her community who have supported her through it all. She walks with grace and is fearless in everything she does.
