“James Arthur Headrick II”
Cottonwood, CA
September 20, 1950 – August 24, 2018
On August 24th while surrounded by his family, after a battle with cancer, Jim left this world and was welcomed into heaven.
James was born on September 20, 1950 in Eureka, California to James Arthur and Agnes “June” Headrick. They moved from Orrick, California to Shingletown, California , in 1961. Jim attended Sierra and Inwood Elementary Schools in Shingletown and graduated from Enterprise High School.
Jim is survived by his wife Elizabeth, his children James A. Headrick III of Happy Valley, Buffy (Steven) Shackelford of Kenai, Arkansas , Christian (Payton) Headrick of Cottonwood, Kaitlyn (Tanner) Rhodes of Anderson, Patience(Chet) Hervey and Jesse Bacon. Father James Headrick, siblings Bunky(Stan) Leach of French Gulch, Craig(Kris) Headrick, Kathie (Greg) Tavalero, Paula (Chuck) Braudway of Shingletown, 22 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, along with numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes “June” Headrick and granddaughter Taylor Alice Headrick.
Jim was a lifelong logger and was a fourth generation logger in the Headrick Family. Headrick Logging is a family owned company located in Anderson, California. Jim started his logging company in the small community of Shingletown with a six-man crew and one cat side. Jim was in the logging business in the Shasta County area for over 30 years. Through the years, Jim built numerous business relationships in the community, and made lifelong friendships with many of them. Jim was a Past President of the Sierra Cascade Logging Conference and was recognized as “Logger of the Year.” He was actively involved in Associated California Loggers, both as a Past President and as a Board Member. Jim was involved in the Shasta County Farm Bureau, and was awarded the 2017 Distinguished Service Award. Jim served with the Cottonwood Fire Department.
Jim enjoyed reading Zane Grey and Louis L’Amour, hunting, spending time at the ocean, and camping with his family and friends.
