On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, ACL President Russ Hawkins “appeared” on a podcast based out of Minnesota.
The podcast originally aired as a radio broadcast on 710 am, WDSM, from the Duluth-Superior area of northeastern Minnesota.
The podcast can now be accessed as part of the show “Let the Sawdust Fly” at the link below:

The podcast interview lasts about 36 minutes. It is worth the listen! Russ Hawkins is the main “interviewee,” but near the end of the podcast several family members also talk: Russ’s wife Helen Hawkins and sons Kolten and Hunter.
Russ speaks to a nationwide audience about logging in California (in general) and in his corner of California (Lassen County and Bieber, near Nevada and Oregon) in particular. Russ also offers the inspirational story of how he fought back from a personal injury of some years ago.
American Loggers Council Executive Director Scott Dane – based in Minnesota – set up this prodcast with Russ. The Minnesota interviewer, Peter Woods, met with the ACL Executive Director during ACL’s trip to Washington DC two weeks ago. Peter Woods is a good guy and said he was really looking forward to interviewing Russ.
This is another “feather in the cap” for promoting Associated California Loggers and its leaders on a nationwide basis.
