EDITOR’S NOTE: Though the CAL FIRE announcement below “asks for comments by February 24” on draft guidelines, the information below is more important to ACL members because the information — both in the paragraphs below and in the links at the bottom of the page — will give you a sense of how this program will work “irregardless” of changes to the draft. You will learn the groups eligible for grants and how to apply. Loggers can approach these groups with bids on projects.
Funding sources for 2026 forest Health Grants include BOTH the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund(GGRF) AND monies from “Proposition 4 of 2024” (California Climate Bond.)

Forest Health DRAFT Grant Guidelines Posted
February 10, 2026
Dear Forest Health Partners,
We are writing to inform you that the CAL FIRE Forest Health Program guidelines have been posted for public comment and are now available on the Forest Health website. These draft guidelines describe proposed eligibility, application requirements, and processes for the upcoming grant cycle. The solicitation is anticipated to open at the beginning of March.
Please note the following significant changes for this cycle:
· Two funding solicitations will run simultaneously. The Forest Health Program is offering funding through both the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) and Proposition 4 (California Climate Bond). Applicants seeking consideration for both funding sources will be required to submit separate applications for each funding source.
· A two-step application process will be implemented for this solicitation. Applicants will first submit a concept
We encourage interested parties to review the draft guidelines and submit comments during the public comment period which begins today. Feedback received will help inform final program guidelines prior to the solicitation opening.
Please submit all comments to ForestHealth@fire.ca.gov
Thank you for your continued interest in supporting forest health and wildfire resilience across California.
Best regards,
CAL FIRE Forest Health Team
