The message:
Lake Tahoe’s forest has grown from just 25 trees per acre to more than 300 since the 1850s, according to Vibrant Planet. As we kick off Wildfire Awareness Month this May, learn more about some of the innovative projects happening in Tahoe to improve forest health and better prepare our communities for wildfire.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Among the projects listed from “The Smartest Forest Fund” are (1) a project undertaken by Kodama Systems, a company that has briefed both Associated California Loggers and the American Loggers Council; (2) biomass projects; (3) the existing Tahoe Forests Sawmill in Carson City, Nevada; (4) owl monitoring and(5) “BurnBot” automated mastication.
